Land and Trees

Have idle land? Plant trees! The Raisin Region Conservation Authority (RRCA) offers a variety of forestry services for projects of all sizes in the RRCA Watershed to enhance forest cover in eastern Ontario.

Annual Tree Giveaway

RRCA has been hosting an annual Tree Giveaway for residents of its watershed jurisdiction since the year 2000. Over 54,000 free trees have been distributed to the community to date. The RRCA and its neighbouring Conservation Authority, South Nation Conservation, partner with local municipalities to distribute free tree seedlings to residents in their watershed jurisdictions in Eastern Ontario.

All trees for South Stormont, South Glengarry, and North Glengarry residents have now been allocated.

Residents of North Stormont may access the South Nation Conservation seedling reservation form.

Residents of Cornwall: come see us during Eco Day at Lamoureux Park from 10 am to 2 pm on April 20, where we will be distributing free trees while quantities last.

Over-the-Counter Tree Program

The RRCA offers a variety of native trees and shrub seedlings at low cost to residents in its jurisdiction.

Land Donations

Landowners in the RRCA's jurisdiction may consider donating their land as their natural heritage legacy.  The RRCA acquires land to enhance forest cover, conserve sensitive ecological habitat, and provide recreational opportunities to the public (i.e. Conservation Areas).  To date, the RRCA conserves, manages and protects 1,853 acres of environmental significant land.

The RRCA may receive ecological gifts under Canada’s Ecological Gifts Program (EGP). The ECG provides a way for Canadians with ecologically sensitive land to protect nature and leave a legacy for future generations. It offers significant tax benefits to landowners who donate land or a partial interest in land to a qualified recipient. The RRCA would become responsible for the conservation of the donated land’s biodiversity and environmental heritage.  Contact the RRCA at info@rrca.on.ca for more information.
